Something I’m thinking about here is that there’s a spectrum of de-aging approaches. I think this hierarchy follows these rules, in descending order of moral dilemma:
Purely virtual performance + deepfake + resurrection
Purely virtual performance + deepfake
Purely virtual performance (entirely computer generated)
Live-action ‘reference’ performance + digital mapping (this is the example below)
Live action ‘reference’ performance + de-aging
